| The Fit House is a high efficiency home that uses proven architectural concepts of passive heating and cooling in concert with technology to produce a home that has a net energy use of zero.The home's form, orientation to the sun, ventilation, material properties and thermal mass are the primary strategies used to reduce energy use. The passive design is complemented by integrating technology to maximize energy efficiency.
The Fit House utilizes the idea of fitness as the design principle that encourages efficiency as much as delight, economy as much as comfort, and endurance as much as strength.
This project is the result of a partnership between The Fit House and St. Margaret's Housing Corporation. Through this partnership, The Fit House is uniquely able to surpass ordinary standards of efficiencies while remaining economically viable. |
